The Role of A Counselor
The role of a counselor is to serve as a support system for the transfer students during their time here at Texas A&M. Each counselor and their partner leads a group of 8-10 students called a Discussion Group (DG) and facilitates continuity events for these students throughout their first year and beyond! Counselors also perform informative and purposeful skits, so the new Aggies may better understand life in Aggieland, A&M traditions, & on-campus services. Each semester a group of counselors dedicate their time and energy to help welcome the new transfer students to Texas A&M. Camp counselors must attend mandatory training throughout the spring semester and summer and desire to build lasting relationships with the incoming students!
