ATC Membership – Aggie Transition Camps

Director Staff

Our directors have served as Counselors, Teamers, or Chairs in the past. Each of them has been chosen to continue their service to Texas A&M and Aggie Transition Camps, by devoting their time to the success of our Howdy Camp and T-Camp programs this year. This team of student leaders work closely with the program’s Advisor to ensure the best possible experience is delivered for incoming Texas A&M Students in both the fall and spring semesters.

Howdy Camp 2026 Co-Chairs

The role of a Chairperson on staff is to train and develop up to 16 counselors/teamers alongside their partner to effectively lead discussions, activities and informational skits during Individual-Camp and all-camp time. Co-chairs handle “behind the scenes” logistics throughout the duration of camp, which extends from their selection in mid-October through the execution of Howdy Camp in early January and continuity events hosted in the Spring 2026 semester. Chairs are responsible for planning events, mitigating risks, facilitating counselor activities, organizing their camp’s programs and activities for their portions of camp and maintaining accountability within their assigned groups in alignment with the ATC Mission, Values and policies. Each Semester the current chairs dedicate a significant amount of their time and energy to help assure that the incoming campers have the best experience possible.

The Role of A Counselor

The role of a counselor is to serve as a support system for the transfer students during their time here at Texas A&M. Each counselor and their partner leads a group of 8-10 students called a Discussion Group (DG) and facilitates continuity events for these students throughout their first year and beyond! Counselors also perform informative and purposeful skits, so the new Aggies may better understand life in Aggieland, Texas A&M traditions, & on-campus services. Each semester a group of counselors dedicate their time and energy to help welcome the new transfer students to Texas A&M. Camp counselors must attend mandatory training throughout the spring semester and summer and desire to build lasting relationships with the incoming students!
